lyrics

By Charlotte Lemieux

That night I couldn’t count the clouds
Too many stars were glowing before my eyes
I couldn’t hear the hurrying cars
Men shouting loudly choked by their long golden ties
Rolling on fiery roads of slippery leather
I couldn’t hear them ‘cause in my ears
Were melting words of a memorable tale

There was a man who owned a tomato field
He had found under the mud
The way to a paradise bud
But he promised his lips would be forever sealed

As I was counting the floating leaves of late October
Suddenly shone the sun through the sleeping trees
With flaming red petals to the pulp of my fingers
All around I was painting roses and bees
And I couldn’t feel the early winter spread its cold frost
‘Cause in my ears were gently sung
The joyful words of a children’s tale

There was a man who owned a tomato field
He had found under the mud
The way to a paradise bud
But he promised his lips would be forever sealed

Although I sometimes can clearly see
The bleeding sands and the crying skies
I will keep on dancing to the rhythm of a heartbeat
With a mustard stained dress as a graceful gown

I will keep on dancing to the rhythm of a heartbeat
Keep on dancing to the rhythm of a heartbeat
I will keep on dancing to the rhythm of a heartbeat
With a mustard stained dress as a graceful gown
Jumping from rainbow to rainbow to colour my toes
To forget for a minute or two

Yeh we might be wasting precious ones
